I'm Veronica, founder and landscape designer at Keucke.

Design has been at the centre of my world for more than twenty years. Keucke started life as a fashion label in 2002 before evolving into a landscape design studio in 2025. Those years have given me a deep understanding of the design process, an openness to new ideas, and an appreciation for creating landscapes that will stay relevant and continue to emerge and flourish with time.

Alongside professional practice, I also spent five years teaching landscape design, planting design and landscape construction at Wintec. Teaching provided the opportunity to share knowledge and inspire future landscape designers, while continually challenging me to question, refine and articulate my own design thinking. Those lessons continue to influence the way I work with and support clients today.

Every project starts with understanding the character of a site and the needs of the people who'll live in it. For me, good design means finding the balance between creativity, functionality, sensitivity to place and natural beauty while strengthening the connection between the land, the architecture and the people who call it home. I enjoy testing and refining ideas until every element feels considered and the design sits naturally within its surroundings.

I'm constantly inspired by the colour palettes, compositions and beauty of the New Zealand landscape. It guides a planting philosophy built on biodiversity and resilience, combining native, exotic and productive plants into gardens that feel abundant while letting a natural sense of order emerge.
